In these uncertain times, everyone could use an encouragement. Aphoyo had planned to launch a buy-one-give-one campaign for an Ugandan-centered phonetic alphabet for children and teachers to use in class, however, COVID-19 has put these plans on hold.

But hey, we have these lovely illustrated cards, why not send a bit of Uganda to show someone you love that you’re thinking of them?

Just donate $5, fill out the form below and we’ll do the rest. We hope to spread a bit of love from our Aphoyo families to you during this globally difficult time. #WeAreMoreTheSameThanDifferent.

Why phonetic alphabet cards? Ugandan school children are still effected by colonialism daily, even learning phonics with unfamiliar objects (A is for Apple) rather than making learning authentic with familiar subjects. Aphoyo children and families came up with an entirely Ugandan centered alphabet to distribute to Aphoyo classrooms. This campaign will launch as a buy-one-give-one and you’ll be able to purchase a set for your home, friends and loved ones while gifting one to an Aphoyo classroom.

Each card is lovingly hand illustrated and will be sent as a postcard to your loved ones through the INK Cards App- Keep Friends and Family Close at Heart Even When You’re Far Apart (INK is in no way affiliated with Aphoyo, although we highly recommend their services).

Cards cost Aphoyo $2-3 to send out, all remaining funds from your donation go to stipends for Aphoyo families for necessary supplies during COVID-19.
